Yesterday at 17:30, the Umbilo Trio Task Team received information about a planned robbery.
It is alleged that a group of suspects were planning to commit numerous business robberies in Umbilo area. The police officers were deployed accordingly and they held their observations. The suspects were spotted on Bartle Road in Umbilo driving a VW Polo using false plates and a chase ensued between the suspects and the police.
The suspects were caught at the corner of ZK Mathews and Danpienaar Street. A total of six suspects aged between 28 and 34 were placed under arrest. The suspects were found in possession of three illegal firearms, 25 rounds of ammunition and house breaking implements. They appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 14 June 2021.
