Traffic Cop Firearm Instructor Apprehended For Alleged Drunk Driving. This is due to a case opened against the official for drunk driving.
A traffic cop instructor will be at the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Monday. This is due to a case opened against the official for drunk driving. The instructor from the Boekenhoutkloof traffic training college was apprehended on Monday.
The 45-year-old traffic police firearm instructor was apprehended by the representatives of the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s (RTMC) national traffic anti-corruption sector and by the Gauteng traffic police officials on a Friday. The organisation, RTMC, stated that its anti-corruption sector was let known about the issue by worried representatives of the public that saw the 45-year-old drinking at a liquor store in Pretoria West. The official was apprehended when he drove away. When the traffic police firearm instructor was apprehended he was driving in an unmarked RTMC car with a portable blue light.
He was discovered with his traffic police firearm, he was also wearing a Road Traffic Management Corporation uniform. The agency says, “The breath alcohol screening indicated that he was above the permitted alcohol limit for driving. He was then taken to a district surgeon at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, where confirmatory blood samples were taken. It is an embarrassment that a person in this position of responsibility allegedly failed to respect the law.” The agency also says the anti-corruption unit is commended for demonstrating that law-enforcement officers must do their work without fear, favour or any other consideration.
