A release of CCTV video recording and some images have gotten two teenagers apprehended. The two of them were apprehended for allegedly burning a train in Cape Town. The teenagers were wanted for an event that burned 18 train coaches on the 28th of November.
The incident had left a several number of people helpless. Prasa was willing to give a R100 000 last week. The money was being given to the person who could help police officials in apprehending the ones behind the arson attack. The teenagers are aged between 14 and 15. Brigadier Novelwa Potelwa, the police representative, says they were identified by a resident member who saw the CCTV video recording of the burning of the train.
The community member thus made the police officials aware of the identification. The police representative says, “A 14-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested in Elsies River. Detective investigations led the police to another suspect, a 15-year-old in Delft, who was also arrested.” The teenagers were in court on Wednesday. They remain in juvenile custody until their next court date, which is on the 9th of January 2020. The damage of the burnt train is thought to have cost about R61 million.
