Two Teenagers To Appear In Court For Philippi East Murders

Relentless efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of five murders that occurred in Philippi East last Tuesday has led to the arrest of two suspects on Monday, 06 July 2020 in Delft.
Philippi East detectives supported by members of the national Public Order Police Reserve Unit followed information and descended on a residence on Main Road in Delft where they arrested the two suspects aged 18 and 19.
Four young men were killed and another one died in hospital after seven suspects stormed into a house in Block 4 in Philippi East in the evening of Tuesday, 30 June 2020 and started shooting randomly.
The arrested suspects are expected in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 8 July 2020 on charges of murder. As the investigation unfolds more arrests are imminent.
