Ugandan Muslim Member Allegedly Gets Married To A Man Thinking It’s a Woman. When one gets married they get married to someone they really know.
When one gets married they get married to someone they really know. However, an imam (a Muslim leader) from Uganda didn’t really seem to know who he married. The imam married a man, thinking that it is a woman.
The marriage also led to him being taken awa from his duties in the mosque. The ‘Daily Monitor’ reports that Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba was taken away from the Kyampisi Masjid Noor mosque in Kayunga. This happened after the imam’s supposed wife was allegedly apprehended for robbery. When the supposed wife was being searched, it was found that the wife is a man.
The couple has been together for two weeks when they found out. The mosque says, the 27-year-old Sheikh Mutumba was traumatised by the discovery. The mosque also says that the man is going through counselling for the devastation. The Kyampisi Masjid Noor mosque bilal, Amisi Kibunga, says he saw Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba’s supposed wife twice at the Juma prayers but he didn’t notice that he was a man. “He had a sweet soft voice and walked like a woman. She also always dressed in either gomesi or hijab. Four days after their wedding , the [groom] came to me complaining that bride had refused to undress while they slept,” says Mr Amisi Kibunga.
