There has been news making rounds that a student by the name of Phindile hacked the University of Johannesburg’s IT panels thereby giving herself and other students distinctions so that they could graduate. Social media users went on to praise the woman for what she diid for herself and other students. However, the University of Johannesburg has crushed the news that the institution’s IT panels were hacked by a student named Phindile.
The story originally appeared on the ‘Gallant Post’ in June 2019 and was published again on the ‘Hitng Info’ a few days back before it started making rounds on social media. The reports state that the supposed student got a hold of the IT panels of the University of Johannesburg’s website and then gave herself two distinctions on two modules that she had a difficult time with. This apparently due to her bursary letting go of her and her parents not being able to support her tuition. It was also alleged that the student edited the results of 200 other students so that they could graduate too.
Tweeps reacted in different ways when they thought the woman allegedly hacked the school’s IT panels. One tweep says, “Phindile & that lady who stole R4 million…they need to be celebrated.” One tweep says, “If only Phindile did the things during my time at UJ I’d be a CA with cum laude.” The University of Johannesburg went on their Twitter account to say, “#UJ has noted a report peddling misinformation disguised as legitimate news. Sadly, many readers have been misled to believe that it is real news. It is FAKE news!”
