Yesterday (Sunday) the highly anticipated music show in South Africa, Idols SA, was back on our screens on Mzansi Magic. The show was replacing one of the most loved dating shows on the channel, Date My Family. However, the show’s return didn’t get as much love as it used to on social media. Viewers had ‘Date My Family’ on the trends list because they wanted the show to com back on their screens.
Some of the tweeps even said that the Idols South Africa should instead replace ‘Our Perfect Wedding’ instead. One tweep says, “Idols is not on the same level [as] #DateMyFamily and should not be sharing the same time slot…” One tweep says Idols should move to its own channel and leave space for ‘Date My Family’. The tweep says, “Multichoice must listen. The #DateMyFamily fans have spoken, idols must move to its dedicated channel.” One tweep says, “Do we really want to watch idols?”
One tweep says, “…Sundays are officially ruined. Why not cut OPW instead and keep #DateMyFamily.” One tweep says the change from ‘Date My Family’ to ‘Idols SA’ could be too much for her. The tweep says, “I feel like I would rather watch #DateMyFamily than #IdolsSA. Maybe the change is too much.” One tweep says, “This used to be my Sunday, I don’t know what to do anymore…” One tweep says the move from ‘Date My Family’ to ‘Idols SA’ could be the worst thing about winter. The tweep says, “The worst thing about winter in SA is the end of #DateMyFamily and the beginning of the neverending #IdolsSA.”
