A video recording of a man doing something sweet for his grandmother made rounds on social media. The 85-year-old grandmother from Pietermaritzburg, in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), was being given driving classes by her grandson. The video has left people on social media having heart eyes. The grandson, Khaya Mwelase, is a paramedic at the United Arab Emirates.
He came to go check up on his grandmother, thus chose to let his grandmother’s dreams come true. He says it was chilled day, he was speaking to his grandmother while she was watering her plants in the garden. After some time, he thought her dream come true, so he tricked her by saying that they should go buy milk from the shops. Khaya Mwelase then went to a soccer field that is close by, he got out and told the grandmother to sit in the driver’s seat.
“I said Gogo, come sit in the driver’s seat. I just showed her the basics like where the ignition is, how to hold a steering wheel, how to check for blind spots and how to accelerate and to brake. I said relax and drive your grandson around the soccer field,” says Khaya Mwelase. The grandmother went on and listened to the man’s directions and drove for over 45 minutes. The grandson says his grandmother was happy and that brought tears to him. The grandmother’s happiness while she was driving got a lot of love from social media users.
