According to police, two cars were set on fire after a cash-in-transit heist at Malibongwe Drive, Johannesburg. One of the vehicles that were set on fire involve a cash-in-transit. The event happened on a Monday night. Colonel Brenda Muridili, the police spokesperson, says a gang trapped the van that cash.
The gang thus told the driver and the rest of the other workers to get on the ground. The police spokesperson says the group put an anonymous amount of money on to two cars and went away from the scene. The vehicle that had cash on it and one other car were set on fire at the scene where the incident happened.
Shawn Herbst, the Netcare 911 spokesperson, says two of the guards were aided at the scene of the event. They were then taken to hospital while they were in a good condition. A video recording was taken of the burning cash van. A huge gush of smoke was going upwards at the highway. The incident had Malibongwe drive closed down.
