A 19-year-old female was pulled by her hair when she was hijacked at Randburg in Johannesburg. The student is still planning to go on with her school year even though the hijackers hurt her. The female was entrapped at the entrance of a residential centre when she went to visit loved ones.
The 19-year-old student, from Namibia, has been in South Africa for the past 3 months. The female student started from January. Ester van Rensburg, the person the student was heading to, says the student is doing a course in opithalmology at the University of Johannesburg.
“There have been many burglaries in the past in our complex, so we put up a huge security gate and cameras at our entrance,” says Ester van Rensburg. The CCTV video shows the female taking out her phone so that she could call Ester to tell her that she’s at the entrance. The suspects impacted the females car.
The suspects then jumped out, went to the females vehicle and told her to open the door. The female denied them access to her car. When a male that was about to exit the residence saw the event, he started hitting his hooter and the female did the same to signal that she was in danger. The other residential members also started going out, one of the suspects started firing through her window, without hurting her.
The female was then pulled out of the car by her hair, the suspects then left with the female’s Volkswagen Polo vehicle. The female’s car was found on the same day. Van Rensburg allowed her to stay with her because she was still distraught after the event.
