A usual sight for people at a petrol station in St Lucia and unusual one for people outside of the town was caught on video recording. A hippo was caught at an Engen garage in the town of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The hippo was just walking into the petrol station.
The hippo got the attention of consumers at the garage. OK Express got footage of the animal walking in supposedly looking for snacks. “Just a casual Sunday night stroll in St Lucia looking fr snacks at OK Express. The hippo returned back to the lake after grazing around town,” says OK Express. The post also states that the area is surrounded by a large lake and a widespread natural habitat for wildlife.
Raymond Zulu, the park manager, told TimesLive that the hippos are normally seen at St. Lucia. He states that they head to the St. Lucia petrol station almost once a month. He says the animals are not dangerous but people don’t approaches them nor gives them food. Black Twitter commented on the video recording. One tweep says, “I’d be so confused, my brain would refuse to believe it. I’d probably think “wow that’s a really big pig”. One tweep says, “We are living up to the Africa the world says we are.”
