Watch: Man Gets Bitten By A Female Lion In Free State. The video that has been going around the internet shows the male brushing a male lion from the opposite side of the fence.
Pieter Nortje, a 55-year-old male was badly hurt when he attempted brushing a female lion at the Tikwe River Lodge. The Tikwe River Lodge is based at Virginia in the Free State. The male went to the lodge with his wife, Ilze Nortje, for the weekend as they were celebrating 10 years of their marriage. The female lion pierced its teeth into the Pieter’s arm on Sunday.
The video that has been going around the internet shows the male brushing a male lion from the opposite side of the fence. He speaks to the male lion saying that if it bites him, he is also going to do the same to the male lion. The female lion wanders around and then approaches Pieter. The male also calls the female lion to come forth.
The female lion then tightens its mouth on Pieter’s arm therefore dragging him to the fence. Pieter cries in pain as he pulls his hand away from the female lion. A female that was recording the video was terrified and she was saying “Hy byt hom” meaning “His biting him.” The female was shouting while seeing the horrific event.
Reports say that Pieter was sent to a hospital in Virginia when the incident happened but now the male is moved to a facility in Bloemfontein, where he lives. Reports also say that he is in a severe state. The same incident happened in May 2018, when a caretaker was bit by his lion in a private game reserve close to Thabazimbi, Limpopo. The lion had to be put down. Tweeps made a joke about the video when one of the tweeps posted the video with a caption saying “They never learn.”
One tweep says, “Lets give that lion a chance to vote next month…It is standing against all odds” Another tweep referenced the need to consent concerning the rape academic that has been happening in South Africa by saying, “this is why we advocate for consent.” One other tweep referred to the lion that beat the owner that was close to Thabazimbi saying, “The Legacy Of Shamba Leaves On”
Warning: The video may be too graphic for some viewers.
