A video recording of a rude nurse made rounds on the internet. The nurse from KwaZulu-Natal was reprimanding and cussing at a patient at the hospital. The Department of Health says the nurse has been suspended from her position.
The nurse who was at the Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital was being rude to a patient that she was trying to put a drip on. She stated that the man was supposedly being unmannerly. She also called some harsh names, while she denied to give him tea or coffee. “You’re wasting my time. I’m trying to put on a drip to try and help you. You want tea? Are you here to drink coffee and sleep? Do you think this is a hotel where we must provide tea and coffee for you,” says the nurse.
Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu, the MEC of Health, says the wrongful treatment of patients by the employees in the healthcare department will not be tolerated. She also states that the woman has been suspended during the whole examination in how she acted. “This nurse has been placed on immediate suspension ,pending a full investigation into her conduct. We want to send a strong message that the days of mistreating patients are over. You misbehave, we deal with you,” says the Health MEC.
