Watch: People Drink Even During Critical Floods. A female passes by the video recording holding a beer and a chair.
Have you heard of the saying “By any means necessary?” Well you might understand it visually when you see these people at a Durban tavern buying alcohol during the rough time they are having with the floods. These people are the true meaning of this saying. Well, partly true meaning.
A video recording shows people sitting at a tavern. A female passes by the video recording holding a beer and a chair. While the woman moves along she speaks to someone she knows and she’s smiling. One social media user says, “It’s all fun and games until one of the bar fridges catches an electric short in the water.” One other social media users was surprised as to how the lights are still operating at the tavern.
Some of the social media users were making fun of the alcohol that was being bought and the way the people are walking in the water. One of the social media users questions as to what is contained in the alcohol. One social media user says, “Ah feet washed at last.” Another social media user says, “When the time is right and the toilet (‘s) too far, they will pee right there where they are sitting.”
The rescue services are still looking for more bodies as there are currently 70 dead bodies found. The government and the eThekwini municipality has donated money to help rebuild the critically damaged area. It is also claimed that some of the residents are sleeping on the hall floor even though they were promised aid.
