Watch! Police Guards Mess Up Their Step At Dr. Richard Maponya’s Funeral. On Tuesday it was the funeral day of one of the greatest business influences in South Africa, Dr Richard Maponya.
On Tuesday it was the funeral day of one of the greatest business influences in South Africa, Dr Richard Maponya. The Maponya mall founder passed away a short while after he celebrated his 99th birthday. The funeral went on smoothly but there was one mess up that social media couldn’t let go at all.
Social media, especially Black Twitter, was all over the police guards after they messed up a march. The guards were confused as to where their left and right is. The officials, under the command of their leader, ended up just leaving the stage. The blunder was shown on the SABC live broadcast of the funeral proceedings. President Cyril Ramaphosa gave the businessman a Category 2 Special Official Funeral, which has police ceremonial honours. However, Dr. Richard Maponya’s remains will not be in the state.
Tweeps were all over the police officials for messing up simple instructions on live television. One tweep says, “Simple instructions mabena left then right.” One tweep says, “Those parades need concentration [and] proper preparations not a day before [the] actual thing]…[What] an embarrassment…” One tweep says, “Eish Our beloved men and [women] of Africa, no wonder Eskom and this country is down the drain.” One tweep says, “How did they get those positions? It also looks like [their] legs are too heavy for them.”
Disappoint me again Mabena, I knew it. 😔 😢 😭 😂 pic.twitter.com/mmcWIAhMGk
