A video recording of a drunk hospital worker emerged on the internet. In the video recording, the hospital worker is seen holding a bottle of alcohol. TimesLive states that the worker was at the Livingston Hospital in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
The worker is seen to be too drunk to help the clients. The man could not communicate very well with the clients and he was also unable to stand firm on his feet. A female client asked him if she could open a file.
Lwandile Sicwetsha, the spokesperson of the Eastern Cape Health Department, says that the man was working for the Eastern Cape Health Department. Lwandile Sicwetsha says, “His conduct on duty is unacceptable and is condemned.” The Eastern Cape Health Department spokesperson said the worker is being examined.
Testimonies are being received from people who saw the event occur, with more information being compiled. Lwandile Sicwetsha says that internal procedures will be followed to take care of the actions of the worker while he was at work. The Eastern Cape Health Department spokesperson says, “The matter has been referred to labour relations to attend to it.”
