A video recording made rounds on social media. The traffic officer in the video made rounds on social for holding onto a speeding car. The traffic officer was asking a driver to get out of the car, while holding onto the car. The officer didn’t want to let go of the car. A taxi driver saved the traffic officer by blocking the car from moving. The event supposedly happened in Gauteng.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation released a statement about the event. “We have noted this video doing rounds on social media. The traffic authority in Gauteng is establishing facts around this so that they can respond urgently,” read the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s statement. The Krugersdorp News report states that a spokesperson from Mogale City Traffic Department acknowledges that the traffic cop is a Gauteng traffic cop. The event allegedly happened at the Rant-en-Dal area on Monday.
Most of the tweeps commended the taxi driver for blocking the woman. One tweep says, “Taxi Drivers must be promoted to public protectors.” One tweep says, “As much as most of us hate the behaviour of most of the taxi drivers this one deserves an Award.” One tweep says, “They must clear that taxi driver’s tickets…” Some of the tweeps say that the driver should be sentenced. On tweep says, “This one must be charged with attempted murder and handed a heavy sentence.!” The woman was supposedly arrested for the act.
