A video recording of a brave police officer has been making rounds on the internet. The police officer was in a shoot-out in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday with a group of robbers. The video recording shows the police official giving a few shots at the group before they fire back.
The officer was then coerced into finding cover. In the shooting, one of the robbers was shot dead and the others fled away from the scene. The suspects are still on the run. The alleged group of robbers allegedly attempted to rob the Post Office near the Westville Village Market Mall. It was stated that the money that was there was pension money in the post office.
It was then stated that police officers were told about the situation, thus a shootout happened with the group of robbers. A police car seemed to have been pierced with bullets during the fire exchange. Garrith Jamieson, Rescue Care Paramedics spokesperson, says one person (believed to have been a robber) was passed away at the area of the incident. The other group of robbers ran away in bakkie, speeding towards Pinetown. The video recording was from one of the people that was looking at the scene as several bullets missed the police officer.
