WESTERN CAPE – Endeavours to rid communities of firearms and dangerous weapons that threatens the safety of society once again yielded positive results with the arrest of two suspects that will make their appearance in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrates’ court today, 25 November 2020 after an unlicensed firearm as well as a dangerous weapon were found in their possession.
Members attached to the Plettenberg Bay Sector Teams were conducting hotspot patrols at Marine Way, Plettenberg Bay on Monday, 23 November 2020 at about 22:20 when they noticed two men, one acting suspiciously, next to the road. They stopped the pair and upon searching them the police found a 9mm Rambo handgun as well as a knife in their possession. These items were confiscated. Both suspects, aged 32 and 29, were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of dangerous weapon respectively.
In the meantime, vigilant members on patrol responded swiftly to information received from the public when they recovered a stolen motor cycle at Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday, 24 November 2020 at about 02:00. A member of the public alerted the police about suspicious activity in the bushes near Signal Hill. The members responded and upon searching the area they found a motor cycle that was hidden in the bushes. A 40-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property.
