Vigilant police officers arrested two suspects in isolated incidents in possession of flora and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition without a valid licence.
On Tuesday, 22 March 2022, police members of the N7 Flying Squad responded to a call for assistance from Provincial Traffic near to Piekenierskloof. Upon arrival they requested the passengers to disembark the taxi, with the intention to search the vehicle. The members confiscated a suitcase and backpack filled with succulents. A 34-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of flora without documentation.
Grassy Park police members were busy with focused patrols in the early hours of today when they spotted a suspicious male walking down Eric Way, in Ottery. The members searched the man and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The 25-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Piketberg and Wynberg on the mentioned charges.
