Woman Drops Her Job As A Lawyer In London To Start Her Own Pole Dancing Studio In Cape Town. A woman who started as a corporate lawyer gave up her job to become a pole dancer.
A woman who started as a corporate lawyer gave up her job to become a pole dancer. The owner of ‘The Pole Project’ in Cape Town, Kathy Lee, gave up her career as a corporate lawyer in London in the United Kingdom to start her own pole dancing studio in Cape Town. She says she started pole dancing when she was still a cor porate lawyer.
“I started my pole journey as an overworked corporate lawyer, who took up pole dancing as a hobby and a form of exercise to escape from the humdrum of a rather stressful life and to flex my creative muscles.” She hoped to get a better work balance when she got to South Africa as compared to her work life in London but it didn’t happen as she had hoped. “When that didn’t materialise I saw the potential growth in opening my own pole studio in Cape Town. I decided it was time for a change,” says Kathy Lee.
When she opened the studio she did in hopes to share her love for the act of pole dancing. “The combination of athletic skill and artistic expression makes it incomparable to any other form of dance or sport, and the mental and physical transformation one goes through with pole dancing never ceases to amaze me,” says Kathy Lee to W24. She thinks that the reason why pole dancing is good for many people is because people are always challenging themselves and surprising themselves.
