It has been announced that the former President and struggle stalwart of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has passed away. The former president passed away Friday morning in Singapore at the age of 95. Robert Mugabe has been fighting with bad health for quite a while.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa was the one who introduced the news of the passing away of the former president. The medical experts in Singapore have been helping him since April, the medical experts then stopped treating him. “It is with utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s fouding father and former president, [Comrade] Robert Mugabe,” says President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The current leader of Zimbabwe then commended the former president for his contribution within the liberation of Zimbabwe.
“[Comrade] Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation ad continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace….” Tweeps also went on to send their condolences. The tweeps also noted that life under his leadership him wasn’t easy for the people in Zimbabwe. “It was a bumpy ride but securing of land for your people will forever be remembered.” One tweep says, “President Robert Mugabe passes on. We learnt from you to stare the enemy in the eye, fearlessly! When they tried to humiliate, torment you, using your own brother and sisters and comrades you stood tall. Who will ever forget the night they expected you to resign!”
